“So Joshua fought against Amalek just as Moses had instructed him, and Moses and Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 Whenever Moses would raise his hands, then Israel prevailed, but whenever he would rest his hands, then Amalek prevailed. 12 When the hands of Moses became heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other, and so his hands were steady until the sun went down. 13 So Joshua destroyed Amalek and his army with the sword.” Exodus 17:10-13
God who gives us the victory,
I love this story not because of the battle and the bloodshed. But because You responded to three men who sought You with upraised hands. A team. Oh how we long for the day war will cease. But the spiritual battle is as real today. Three wise men high up above the battle. Moses letting young Joshua lead the army but giving essential support. How blessed when we see young people being loved and given opportunities to serve You. And getting support. Thank You for the young people hearing Your call to serve.
I also love the picture of the three supporting each other. A three cord strand is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). No jealousies and no favouritism. Knowing their dependency. Prayer triplets are such a blessing. And Moses being given a rock so he could sit. It reminds me that You are our rock and kind. You are one and yet three. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You provided us with all we need.
I am privileged to be able to pray for and with others. Grateful for the times others have prayed for me! Thank You and Your answers to prayer.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Suggestions for prayer . . .
God who gives us the victory,
For our family, friends, neighbours, those we promised to pray for.
For our fellowship, ministers and our and neighbouring congregations. New comers.
For our king and His family and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2).
For our Government. Lords and commons. Civil Servants. Local councillors.
For Ukraine and Russia. For Israel, Lebanon, the Middle East. Countries in conflict. Miracles.
For churches in war torn areas, under persecution and those persecuted personally for their faith.
For young people stepping forward and taking responsibility in the church no matter how.
For our future church leaders being born now to be protected, and hear Your call.
For those who cannot see hope, their friends timely support and those who are on the help lines.
For those unknown prayer groups around the world, small and large and us who are committed to holding their hands up on behalf of their world.
For us, we bring thanksgiving for today busy or not, hold our hands up for help for ourselves and others listed above.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

A modern take to a traditional hymn and to me it makes it so much more cheerful!
Come, thou Almighty King
Help us Thy name to sing
Help us to praise!
Father, all glorious
O’er all victorious!
Come and reign over us
Ancient of Days!
Come, thou Incarnate Word
Gird on Thy mighty sword
Our prayer attend
Come and Thy people bless
And give Thy word success
Spirit of holiness
On us descend!
All glory be to the Father
All glory be to the Son
All glory be to the Spirit
The blessed three in One!
Come, Holy Comforter
Thy sacred witness bear
In this glad hour
Thou who Almighty art
Now rule in ev’ry heart
And ne’er from us depart
Spirit of pow’r!
To Thee, great One in Three
Eternal praises be
Hence evermore
Thy sovereign majesty
May we in glory see
And to eternity
Love and adore!
